Dinosaur Discovery Day – Triceratops Trail Day – Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 10am-2pm
Triceratops Trail is a 1.5-mile, gravel hiking trail located one block east of 6th Avenue and 19th Street in Golden, Colorado. The trail winds between large, vertical walls of sandstone and into reclaimed clay pits. Scientists will be at several stops along the trail highlighting clay mining and dinosaur, bird, mammal, insect, and invertebrate tracks and traces, as well as several walls full of plant impressions from the tree-lined delta-like environment.

Walk With a Geologist - Saturday, June 1st 2013 - 9AM
Come explore the geology of Dinosaur Ridge in depth on this Saturday morning! Learn about the many different environments and landscapes and how they’ve changed over the last 300 million years. One of our expert geologists will lead you on a hike along Dinosaur Ridge and interpret the rocks between Red Rocks Park and Green Mountain along the walk. This program is geared toward adults and is not recommended for children.
The program fee is $10 per person and payment is due the morning of the trip. Please RSVP before hand by calling 303-697-3466 x 103 or sending an e-mail to: tours@dinoridge.org to put your name on the list. Meet at the Visitor Center Parking Lot at 8:45AM and the program will leave the Visitor Center by 9:00AM. |

Dinosaur Discovery Day - Saturday, June 8th 2013 - 10AM
If you like puzzles, treasure maps, or secret hiding places, join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge and Geocaching Colorado from 10AM-2PM for a free day of adventure! There will be lessons in Geocaching for both kids and adults. Bring a GPS device or use a loaner provided by the United States Geological Survey booth (deposit required).
Rockhounding activities like gold panning, metal detecting, fossil sifting, geode cracking, and dinosaur track painting will be at the Visitor Center. Door prizes, a scavenger hunt, and Mr. Bones will add to the fun.
Along the trail guides will explain the geology and fossils and assist in GPS puzzles. Listen to rangers from Barr Lake State Park, Bluff Lake Nature Center, and Majestic View Nature Center.
